Zinneke Parade

Zinneke is a process in which contemporary artistic endeavour goes hand in hand with local creativity. The cherry on the cake is the Parade, a biennial event, aspiring to be a contemporary, urban, hybrid, artistic parade in the heart of Brussels. Do not miss the 5th edition: Brussels sits down "for a meal" on May 22nd 2010 presenting 4000 citizens to 300.000 spectators!

Zinneke first saw the light in the framework of Brussels 2000, Cultural Capital of Europe... It sprang forth from a desire to organise a great carnival feast in the city, one that would connect the 18 communities with the city centre and that would mobilise all (socio-)cultural associations. The first Parade was charged with emotion and joy. In 2002 the Parade moved through the capital from South to North with "Zinnergy" as its central theme. In 2006 the Parade will take so many turns that the Paradegoers may well end up in a distant future....
