La Boussole honours the district's traditions by devoting the lion's share of its menu to seafood. Specialities of the house? These are Mediterranean-oriented. We literally melted for its bouillabaisse with seven kinds of fish and its contingent of croutons under the command of a generous rouille. Its grilled squid surrounded by rocket and baby potatoes also gave us some succulent memories. Just as his pretty crazy salad with grilled coquille St. Jacques or giant prawns grilled with herbs, with a drizzle of olive oil extra virgin Greek (of course) some fragrant garlic chips rose.
It's not much that we forget the meat lovers, this charming little restaurant, Argentinean steak or delicious Irish beef served with salad and home made chips.
To lubricate these pretty promises, the house offers a predominantly French wine list while leaving due place for other wines of the world.
Parisian decoration, Brussels ambience.
While La Boussole's decoration is powerfully reminiscent of Parisian bars, its ambience is typically Brussels-like: cordial and friendly. Enough to make you lose your North! The South will come to reorient you by means of a two-course lunch.
On good weather days, a terrace with twenty or so covers extends on to the pavement for your greater delight. And if parking in the district can be a bit of a headache, do what the patron does: come to the restaurant by bike.
