The new metro makes its entry...
On Saturday 4th April 2009, the metro will be revolutionised and makes Brussels move!
On Saturday 4th April will be a fantastic day for the STIB and the faithful users of Brussels metro. The old metro and its traditional lines (1A, B and 2) are giving way to a comprehensive network of ultra-efficient lines. In combination with tram lines 3 and 4, the new metro lines serve the whole of Brussels.
New direct links
Travel from one side of the city to another in less than half an hour, is it possible ? The new metro network offers new direct connections to move faster and without having to change line.
A multimodal Gare de l'Ouest
The 4 lines intersect at Gare de l'Ouest, with the station becoming a fully-fledged transport hub for the tram, bus and train (opening of a RER station in late 2009).
Increased comfort
94 metres in length, the ultra-modern new trains combine speed with comfort. This sophisticated rolling-stock greatly increases the system's capacity, as well as the feeling of well-being, even during rush hour. The new metro becomes the true solution of mobility in Brussels...
