Far from the bustling inner city of Brussels, the major Shopping Centres were built at the outer fringe of the nineteen communes, thus catering both for the public inside and outside the Brussels Capital region.
The Woluwé (Saint-Lambert) Centre is the oldest and has just undergone a successful facelift. Its two floors cover a giant- unfortunately now paying - car park, but easy to access once the false clients who use it during weekdays to commute have left. The centre offers real comfort and its boutiques provide exceptional quality. Called Westland, the younger brother in Anderlecht is based on the same philosophy, even if it is less exclusive. Here we are also just off the ring road, but the western branch. This is where if you follow Gent and Antwerp on the way to the Koekelberg Basilica, you will come across the Basilix centre. Smaller than the two others, clients come here for the bargains that have made the place famous.
