When it comes to television channels, Belgium is a land of plenty. A cable service offering most European channels exists even in deepest Belgium.
But the programme provision always depends on the distributor (the local cable manager) present in the commune. In some Flemish communes, for example, you can receive programmes from Southern Europe, even North Africa, but no French channels. In the Brussels region, several distributors share the market. Access to cable television is paid through a yearly subscription. In Brussels and Wallonia, access to the television also means paying a yearly licence fee. In Flanders, this has simply been abolished. To end, as well as cable TV, you can also subscribe to the paying channel Canal Plus or its thematic 37 multichannel package.
