For many years, the hamlet to later become called Woluwé-Saint-Pierre depended on the neighbouring village known as straightforward Woluwé, without the Saint-Lambert added on.
This hamlet was called ""Obwoluwe"", just as Saint-Gilles was ""Obbrussel"". There was always therefore an obvious link between the two entities in the Woluwe valley. The area to later become ""Saint-Pierre"" contained vast woodland areas in the Forêt de Soignes and agricultural lands administered by the clergy. Part of these lands were under the responsibility of Forest Abbey, whereas other areas were managed more logically by the Rouge-Cloître Abbey next door, now located in Auderghem, a neighbouring commune. Over the centuries, other small hamlets sprung up here, and their names still exist, referring to the main neighbourhoods in this magnificent commune.
