There are numerous streets, squares, boulevards and avenues bearing the name of this former village, now part of the Brussels suburbs. There are undoubtedly thousands, even tens of thousands! One thing is sure, through the English-speaking regions of the world, there are an estimated seventy (including 35 in the United States alone) towns or villages bearing the name that became famous in 1815. After the battle, the next most famous "Waterloo" is undoubtedly the hit song by the Swedish pop group Abba that helped them win the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974.
