Gipsies, Tziganes, Roms, Nomads, Manouches... Sometimes people have heard a little bit about them but most of the time people identify them wrongly and watch them throughout clichés to finally reject them or judge them.

In 2007 the Biennale of Venice opens a Pavilion dedicated to 'Rom' for the very first time in the history! What a big and symbolic event! Gabi Jimenez and his paintings which express violently the living conditions of the gipsies: 'Gitans vos papiers!' took part in the event.
'Tsiganes 1940-1945. Le camp de concentration de Montreuil-Bellay', Emmanuel Proust Paris Editions, stages their daily life during the WWII in France. 'Gitans. Le pèlerinage des Saintes-Maries de-la-Mer' takes us to the South of France, not far from Arles.
At La Cambre, Lydie Nesvadba has started to take pictures of families living set back in the North of France. For many years, from France to Spain, to Romania, she is now in India where still exists the nomadic life of the old days.
