Walter Leblanc @ Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium
Walter Leblanc's work belongs to the international movement of kinetic and optical art. From 1957 he reacted against the spontaneous and emotional gesture of informal art. He used plain materials and tended toward quietness and serenity.
- Where ?Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique
- When ?From 8 march to 5 june 2011
The white monochrome reliefs with twisted cotton strings turn into "mobilo-static" torsions with colored ribbons and end in drawn or sculpted "archetypes" which investigate different relationships between the triangle, square and circle.
Group Zero
Leblanc was an active member of the internationally renowned group Zero. The exhibition brings a selection of fifty works, sculptures, drawings and documents which illustrate the original investigations into art by this supporter of the "anti-peinture". In the publication of the "CAHIER", his writings and different analytical texts are a testimony to the integrity of his minimal work, which is defended and promoted by the Foundation Walter & Nicole Leblanc, our partner in this project.
