Water policy is also a regional matter. In Brussels, one company, the Compagnie Intercommunale Bruxellois d'Eau (CIBE) manages distribution to households. A yearly subscription ( from 15 to 25 euors + 6% VAT) is charged in each commune. Billing is then made annually according to consumption. In principle, water distributed is drinkable everywhere in Belgium. However in Brussels, the high concentration in nitrates means that one should be cautious when giving to young children.
