Water is life!
Water is life!
All living things need water to survive. Not only does the human body consist of 60% water, but this precious resource is also essential for the production of food, clothing, smartphones and computers, and for moving our waste stream and keeping the environment and us healthy. And yet, the way in which we approach this resource is not sustainable.Water is a global challenge that requires regional solutions. This is because the consequences of water management vary due to geography, local infrastructure, climate and the impact of human activities on the environment. Through a call for artists, we have helped kick-start a series of collaborative processes between artists, researchers and communities. Started in autumn 2021, these innovative artist residencies will help generate projects that raise awareness or offer concrete solutions for water challenges in Europe. These residencies form creative ecosystems that bring together artists, businesses, research institutions and local communities in a collaborative process of art and innovation. The exhibition that will take place at Bozar from 16 September 2022 to 30 October 2022 will showcase a selection of the works created during these residencies. Tickets will soon be available. Bozar is a partner in the STARTS network’s STARTS4Water project during the STARTS4Water exhibition. The partners in the STARTS4Water consortium are LUCA School of Arts (Belgium) with the collaboration of Gluon (Belgium), Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary - TBA-21 (Austria), Universal Research Institute (Croatia) ,V2_Lab for the Unstable Media (Netherlands), Ohi Pezoume/ UrbanDig Project (Greece) and Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto (Italy).
