The Napoleonic era in a new light @ Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and of Military History
17 Nov 2011 - 30 Mar 2012
Based on thorough research artist Patrice Courcelle illustrates ignored scenes and details: the spectator shares the intimacy of Napoleon's mealtimes, goes hunting with the emperor and meets his friends and foes. Unique pieces from both national collections and private collections of museum friends are also put on display, thus reinforcing the vivid and historic aspects of Courcelle's work.
This confrontation with daily reality demystifies the Eagle and situates a troubled period in a more accurate historic framework.
