Workshop Cycle Greek Traditional Music

We are glad to announce a new workshop cycle for September 2022 - April 2023. A “Workshop of Greek Traditional Music” will take place once per month in the cozy environment of ‘Art Base’ with the main idea of creating a new music ensemble in Brussels. An ensemble inspired by the Greek tradition and the musical elements that keep it alive till now, under the guidance of Panos Skouteris. Briefly, the aim is to educate and share general & technical knowledge about the instrumental approach and the functionality of the different instruments in the many musical expressions of Greece’s traditional music, all this within the structure of a music ensemble. The repertoire of the workshops will be various and diverse. Tunes from both mainland and island-side of Greece will be presented and adjusted to the needs of the ensemble. A few words about Panos Skouteris Panos Skouteris is born and raised in Athens in 1997. He started clarinet studiesat the age of 12. He studied with the most well-known clarinet players in Greece, such as Petro-Loukas Chalkias, Nikos Filippidis, Alexandros Arkadopoulos etc. Simultaneously, he started studying the Greek type of bagpipes, Thracian & Macedonian gajda and Cycladian & Dodecanesian tsambouna. His interest in older music textures led him to start his second Bachelor in Codarts - University of Applied Sciences( Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam), focusing on the performing styles and the historical background of Classical Ottoman Music. Details of the set-up: Min/Max participants : 4 - 15. Price pp for the workshops: 50E per day (3 hours) / 90E per weekend-double day (6 hours) The workshop cycle consists of monthly meetings from September 2022 to end of April 2023. The first scheduled meeting day is Sunday 25 September 10-13h. Some of the following meetings are going to be double, due to the nature of our seminar, and to obtain a better result.
