Earth Hour @ Brussels

Earth Hour @ Brussels
Earth Hour is part of an international campaign to fight against climate change. After the failure at the Copenhagen Summit at the end of 2009, world leaders still have to find a follow-up agreement to the Kyoto Protocol this year. With this event, the WWF hopes to send a positive message: that by working together we can make a difference in the struggle against climate change.

The outcome of Copenhagen was a hundred miles away from the balanced, ambitious, legally binding agreement that the world had eagerly awaited. We should keep up the pressure on the Heads of State throughout the world so that they are more ambitions in searching for solutions during the next United Nations conference on climate change in Cancun, Mexico at the end of 2010.

So how can you get involved in Earth Hour?

Everyone and anyone can take part simply by switching off their lights for at least an hour on 31 March 2012, between 20h30 and 21h30. In this way, you, the people, the towns, the companies, can make your statement of support for the campaign and the struggle against climate change.

Just a reminder

Earth Hour started as a local initiative of WWF-Australia. The 31 March 2007 in Sydney, 2.2 million people switched off their lights. In 2008, 500 million people, in over 370 towns, in 35 countries did the same. In March 2009, 4 000 towns and communes and around 20 000 companies in 88 countries responded to WWF's call to get involved. In Belgium, Earth Hour 2009 was also a great success, 500 000 people, 329 companies and 193 towns took part.
