Aim of the event
At the same time, the days aim to mobilise EU citizens and increase awareness and understanding of how important research and innovation are in addressing the challenges that face society. It will be a celebration of the very best EU research and innovation has to offer.
A key challenge for Europe is delivering the next great transition of our economy, society and planet to secure a sustainable future that ensures the wellbeing of citizens.
The event will be central to finding research and innovation solutions for this great transition by working across polices, setting the direction, spurring innovation, triggering investment, and mobilising citizens and end-users.

Zowel in de moderne en hedendaagse kunst als in de architectuur is Brussel niet aan zijn proefstuk toe. Integendeel, in de hoofdstad zijn veel instellingen gevestigd die zich met de meest uiteenlopende kunstdisciplines bezighouden. Het enige wat ontbrak was een museum voor moderne en hedendaagse kunst en een architectuurmuseum. Vandaar het project KANAL Centre Pompidou aan het Ijzerplein, dat de 35.000 m2 van de voormalige Citroëngarage inpalmt. In afwachting van de start van de werkzaamheden, die gepland is voor 2022/2023, heeft de Kanal Foundation besloten om vanaf 5 mei 2018 een voorproefjaar te lanceren. Gedurende 13 maanden zal het publiek, in samenwerking met het Centre Pompidou, dit mythische gebouw kunnen ontdekken aan de hand van tentoonstellingen, grote installaties, tien nieuwe creaties van Brusselse kunstenaars en een programma van live shows.
