Handle / Poignée verbeeldt een politiek framework om de relaties tussen liberalen en conservatieven te analyseren en te herstellen. Voor deze zorgvuldig gefilmde dansperformance/installatie met een duidelijke Bauhaus-esthetiek baseert Laser zich op linguist George Lakoff. Die gebruikt in Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think (1996) een familiemodel om de dynamieken tussen politici en burgers te beschrijven. Dat familiemodel bestaat uit 4 archetypen: de disciplinerende ouder, de verzorgende ouder, het gehoorzame kind en het opstandige kind. De “instructievideo” leidt kijkers door vier sequenties van therapeutische bewegingen die elk één van de vier specifieke persoonlijkheidstypes empoweren.
De video en performance zijn ontwikkeld door middel van workshops met danstherapeuten. De opmerkelijke kostuums zijn ontworpen door conceptuele kleding- en accessoirelijn Slow and Steady Wins the Race, bekend om hun onderzoek naar de basiselementen van wat we dragen.
Deel van NORMAL SCHNORMAL, een multidisciplinair programma over normaliteit en andere variaties.
