Double-bass and guitar duo with historical instruments.
The duo Massaro-Efstathopoulos is exploring the sonority between the sound of a double-bass and a Spanish guitar through the history from renaissance to romanticism. Both Yiannis and Pasquale, specialised in historical instruments, perform original works with the relevant instruments but they are also experimenting on creating new arrangements based on historical performance practices of the later 19th century. The duo will perform music for G-violone(historical bass) accompanied by the rhythms of the baroque guitar while the second part includes romantic works for three stringed-double bass and Spanish guitar. A rare opportunity to listen the rich timbre of violone and the virtuosity of the gut-strung double-bass blending with the authentic Spanish character of the guitar.
