From the Donegal Gaeltacht in the northwest of Ireland – the last traditional Irish Gaelicspeakingpart of Ulster and an area renowned for the preservation of Gaelic language and song - Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde grew up blessed by the wealth of tradition around him.
As a young singer his main influences were all from his home place and, while picking up pipes and accordion along the way, Doimnic has remained true to these original influences.
He has performed to audiences in Ireland and across the world and worked with some of the best in traditional music.
In 2009 he won the prestigious Corn Uí Riada, the highest accolade in Ireland for sean-nós singers. He has released five highly-commended albums to date: Saol na Suáilce (solo), Siansaí (choir), Guaillimh a’ Chéile (colaboration with Scottish musician and singer Griogair Labhruidh), Smúidghealach (string quintet) and Sona do Cheird (original compositions and arrangements to ancient Gaelic poetry) which album won ‘Album of the Year’ at the NÓS Awards in 2016.
Scottish musican Frances Morton accompanies Doimnic on flute and tin whistle. Frances
began playing traditional music at a young age and went on to win several titles throughout Scotland, Ireland and England on tin whistle and flute. Since then she has adjudicated at competitions and performed in a range of Irish, Scottish and European festivals with traditional groups. She regularly plays in sessions with renowned musicians from bands such as Dervish, Lunasa, Capercaillie and Altan.

Over the past two years, Frances and Doimnic have undertaken several tours of East and
West Coast America, supported Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke and recorded for the BBC on a forthcoming programme entitled 'Innovation in Traditional Music'.
