Figures on a Ground. Perspectives on Minimal Art challenges obvious juxtapositions such as the universal vs. the personal; the rational vs. the emotional; calmness vs. hysteria, which have often been used as a vehicle to delineate Minimalism as an artistic approach that denies the external world. Self-referential and non-representative, the widespread use of mass-produced, standardised and industrial materials only further stressed this notion of human detachment. Breaking open this rigid and singular definition, the exhibition takes shape as an enticing amalgam of historic and contemporary approaches to Minimal art, including radical geometric abstract sculpture and hard-edge painting.

CAB is een privécentrum voor hedendaagse kunst. Het promoot eigentijdse kunst via de organisatie van artistieke projecten in een schitterende art deco tentoonstellingsruimte in de buurt van Flagey. CAB steunt artiesten door ze een zichtbaarheid te schenken in een ruimte die geen instelling en evenmin een galerij is. Het organiseert elk jaar twee projecten, september-december en april-juni, en nodigt hiertoe de curator van een Belgisch(e) of buitenlands(e) museum of galerij uit. Met zijn projecten wil CAB de dialoog aanmoedigen en het publiek informeren over de opkomende kunstscène.
