The restaurant where to enjoy good fish
Bij Den Boer, located in Sainte-Catherine neighborhood, is a fish restaurant.
Open the doors of the restaurant and you will feel like you're in the time when fish markets reigned supreme in this area. The Bij de Boer is decorated like a Parisian brasserie with wood paneling, beveled mirrors, and regular customers.
Once the Brussels port had disappeared and the Sainte-Catherine church was erected, the square was built and the fish market settled there.
Bij den Boer and their fish specialties in Brussels
The duo that runs Bij den Boer, Geert Heyvaert and Marnic Malaise, has made sure to keep the family atmosphere that has secured their reputation. The spirit of this fish restaurant also rests upon simple and invigorating cuisine that is a real pleasure for all people in Brussels.
The no-frill plates are not free of flavor! The shrimp croquette is worthy of the name, the monkfish with leek is generous, and the Bouillabaisse - simply delicious. Mussels are prepared in 7 different preparations according to the same principle : taste and quality above all else. The king of crustaceans, lobster, is prepared roasted with thyme or with garlic. And if a guest is not very fond of fish, Bij de Boer has a "filet pur" with your choice of sauce among the classics of the brasserie.
A 3 services lunch is offered fror 24,50€ whereas a menu with 4 dishes, renewed every 15 days, costs 29.50€.
The Bij den Boer wine menu, nearly exclusively French, is mainly composed of white wines from Loire and Burgundy that perfectly accompany the fish-based dishes. A few bottles of red wine, Bordeaux or from Loire, can also fill your glass, to satisfy the wine fanatics out there.
The whole of Brussels is queuing up to get a table at the Bij den Boer, don't forget to book yours! Obviously, the terrace is crowded as soon as spring is back !
