Consisting of rare and significant pieces, the museum's collection tells the story of the garment.
The fashion & Lace Museum showcases the rich history of European civil fashion with the emphasis on Belgian and Brussels fashion.
The museum possesses a variety of pieces going from Dior, Saint-Laurent, Balenciaga and Chanel to Maison Nathan. As well as everyday clothing pieces, the collection is unique because all pieces have been worn. All pieces in the exhibition are shows on rotation as the delicate lace needs to be preserved, and cannot be exposed too long.
The Lace room is gives you a closer look into the history of this exceptional fabric which made our city famous. It highlights rare pieces from museums, as well as the last collection by Carine Gilson, the "grandmother of haute couture".
Finally the Textile box, this art platform gives the opportunity to contemporary artist to create their own installation with textile.
