Music in dialogue with Syrian cultural heritage

Ilze KIRSANOVA  (Latvia) - Violin /  Mohannad NASSER (Syria) – Oud / Firas HASSAN (Syria) – Percussions / Janis PIPARS (Latvia) – Video DirectorThe prestigious Syrian cultural heritage listed upon the World Heritage List of UNESCO stands out mutilated by eight years of armed conflicts. The famous Latvian soloist Ilze KIRSANOVA, who visited last December these war zones, takes us deep into to the heart of the most marvelous sites, in a dialogue between tangible and tangible heritage full of contrasts. Her music underlines all the beauty of the monuments burned by the sun of Mesopotamia and whose rich history is enough to ignite people memory: Damascus, Mar Musa, Homs, Palmyra, the Krak des chevaliers, Aleppo. Damaged by irreparable destructions, the trip to which she invites you is filled with intense emotions, but also great hopes. The images of her trip, filmed by the Latvian director Janis PIPARS, will illustrate, in perfect symbiosis, a classical repertoire: Johann Sebastian Bach, Eugene Ysaye, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Johann Paul von Westhoff. This concert will also be the occasion of a musical meeting. Meeting between European classical music and traditional Syrian music. The well-known Oud specialist, Mohannad NASSER, as well as the percussionist Firas HASSAN, will lend themselves to this consensual dialogue which, of great richness, goes beyond borders and political considerations. An event not to be missed and marks the launch of a European tour.
