What began for Alexis Blake as a research project on the representation of women in Italian art soon evolved into a choreography and into a performance. Accompanied by four musicians in the Horta Hall at BOZAR, she makes an archive of poses abstract, stripping them of their history and context.

Alexis Blake has a multidisciplinary practice that coalesces visual art and performance through methods of translation such as choreography, sculpture, video, and/or text. In 2007, she received an MA in Fine Art from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. Her work has been presented at numerous locations, such as the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), ExtraCity (Antwerp), Fondazione Antonio Ratti (Como) and La Triennale di Milano XXI.
