BRUSSELSE PATEIKES.
Effenaf ni te rateire!
La Fleur en Papier Doré
55 Rue des Alexiens 1000
The HQ of the Belgian surrealist movement in the 1920s, this quaint bar has managed to maintain its old-world charm. This is the place to be to experience a particularly rare atmosphere rather than to drink yourself into oblivion. Hergé was a frequent visitor of this bar with its illustrious past, where he would come to enjoy a refreshing gueuze. It was also a favourite watering hole for Pierre Alechinsky and Jacques Brel. Today, the café is still a favourite among the artistic and literary crowd. Enjoy one of the Brussels specialities on the menu: pottekeis, kipkap, bloempanch, stoemp-saucisse, ballekes in tomatensaus,... The interior courtyard displays a comic strip fresco by the cartoonists De Marck and De Wulf (Stam et Pilou).
