Celebrate Saint Patrick's Day in Brussels' Irish Bars

In order to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day properly, there are some necessary elements. At home or at the pub, there are rules which have to be followed.

Guide for the future Irish on Saint Patrick's Day

  1. Take good care of your look by adding a green touch to it, for example a t-shirt, scarf, hat... The best thing is to use a green pencil to draw a clover on your cheek!
  2. The more the merrier! Invite all your friends to toast at your side. Yes of course, the Irish are friendly and fraternal. You are not allowed to be alone on a night like Saint Patrick's!
  3. Make sure the atmosphere is cool! Irish people love music and cannot spend an event like this without the best Dubliner hits! At the pub, natives will teach you their musical knowledge. If you plan to have a party at home, we set up a special Irish music playlist, to make you dance until the wee hours of the morning.
  4. Don't even think about drinking Jupiler or the likes. Ireland has enough potions to make sure you spend a good evening. The proof is below...

Essential Irish pubs

Don't hesitate, just join the party. Good atmosphere guaranteed in each Irish pub of the capital! You will have a drink with friends, surrounded by typical and woody decor. At the bar, muster up your best Irish accent to order your drinks. "A Guinness and two Kilkenny, please!"

And after a few drinks, you will have some crazy conversations with some expatriates. And you will do your best to understand the Irish accent of your table mate who has just offered you a tasting of his cheese & onions chips. A real change of scene, that's for sure!

Go to the Irish Pub of your neighborhood: the Michael Collins at Bailli, the De Valera's at Flagey, the O'Reilly's in front of the Bourse... In the middle of the European district not far from Schuman, make a choice between The Old Oak, The Hairy Canary, the James Joyce...

Try traditional drinks

You don't honor Saint Patrick, the Irish people's patron saint, with mineral water! Celebrating Saint Patrick means drinking traditional drink: the famous Guinness, the red Kilkenny, the cider (second favorite drink of Irish people), and the whisky (triple distilled). And of course, there is the most famous one: the Irish coffee, a combination of coffee, digestive, and dessert!
