At La Monnaie, chamber music reflects our ‘main’ programme. In the wake of the symphonic series, Tchaikovsky and Richard Strauss are given pride of place in the Concertini – several of their chamber-music pieces are key works in the canon. The programme will also feature contemporary works by Pascal Dusapin and Benjamin Attahir, alongside lesser-known scores by Jacques Offenbach, Arthur Honegger, and several French composers. And then there is Mozart: in the context of the Trilogia Mozart Da Ponte, the spotlight will be on his chamber music for six weeks. There is a particular focus on his vocal chamber music, allowing the musicians of our orchestra, the singers of the trilogy, and our house pianists to share the stage in the Grand Foyer and the Fiocco Room. As Honegger said, ‘chamber music is the purest kind of music.’
