"Debating History" Series: 1989 In Perspective
11 Feb 2019 - 11 Feb 2019
Discussion on the book “Europe's Postwar Periods, 1989, 1945, 1918 - Writing History Backwards”
The House of European History organises a debate on the occasion of the publication of “Europe's Postwar Periods - 1989, 1945, 1918: Writing History Backwards”.
Authors of the book will discuss with other historians and experts about the changes that followed 1989, a pivotal year in Europe's history, and how they can be integrated in a longer historical perspective. They will do so through tracing Europe’s path back to two other pivotal moments: 1945 and 1918. Join them to discuss how successive Europes have been constructed in the wake of the key conflicts of the period, the Cold War and two World Wars.
