"The Enchanted Garden will again open its’ gates and invite the visitor on a journey of mysteries and wonders, transformations and metamorphosis.
This large and natural garden, situated just near the ‘border’ between the French and the Flemish part of Belgium, hosts a most special International art exhibition: It is eclectic, with a multitude of expressions in spirit and form – amazing and beautiful, fun and burlesque, poetic, thoughtful, meditative …

Art Inspired by, and in Dialogue With, Nature.

More than thirty artists from Belgium, France, Indonesia, Netherlands, Norway, and United Kingdom, are represented with works in glass, stone, metal, wood, and ceramics, land art and street art, sound installations and music.
This year Art Sanctuary welcomes many new artists, e.g.

-> Barbara Hills (Music): Musical projects
Barbara Hills’ first musical animation screenplay with libretto and score, character sketches and storyboard examples, won her mentorship from the ‘Boost’ initiative, aimed at discovering and fast-tracking new creative talent in the West Midlands. She subsequently founded her own company, House in the Wood Productions.
In 2016 Barbara’s debut double album ‘Moon and Shadows’ won her two ZMR Music Award nominations in the categories of ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Electronic Album.’ This year (2019) her album ‘The Flowers Suite’ has earned a ‘Best Neo-Classical Album’ nomination and a place in the finals at the House of Blues in New Orleans.

-> Ben Cloots (Bronze)

-> Betty Moerenhoudt (Ceramic): New compositions with nature inspired textures
For the ""The Enchanted Garden"" exhibition Betty Moerenhoudt has worked on the theme of the totem, by superimposing and assembling turned parts. They’re enamelled and encrusted with materials. She will also be presenting “Assemblages” of textured objects.

-> Christoph Goldberg (Metal & Ceramic): Combine minimal form with movement
Christoph Goldberg often uses a geometric basic model with added ceramics limbs to create movements, e.g. as used in his ‘swimmer’ sculptures. For him these sculptures are a symbol of life with its ups and downs, through which we drift or strike with chosen blows in a certain direction.

-> Els & Tom Bleijenberg (Ceramic): Animal figures with humour
The unique work of Els & Tom Bleijenberg appeals to both children and adults and is regularly found in galleries and art ceramics markets in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Their ""Ceramic with a Smile"" is privately owned in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom the United States of America, …

-> Hermien Buytendijk (Ceramic): “Nothing is as it seems”
The ceramics of Hermien Buytendijk are hand-crafted using stoneware clay or porcelain. They are fired at a high temperature. In recent years bigger garden sculptures have been created using a thicker layer of glaze of earth tones in combination with a touch of pure gold.

-> Kieta Nuij (Bronze & Ceramic): Shape, texture and patinas are combined in an exciting equilibrium
Kieta Nuij makes the inner picture visible, tangible. The reflection of the soul. Silenced motion, grace, beauty, and at the same time tension, struggle, the raw aspect of experience in life.

-> Lieuwke Loth (Bronze): Expressing her feelings and imagination
In her art Lieuwke Loth combines animal shapes and characters of animals with human features and characteristics. This represents the connection between nature and all human beings. She hopes it incites each and every one to find a spark of harmony, peace, light or happiness.

-> Marijk Renia (Stone, Bronze & Glass): Touched by the many possibilities of working with glass
Marijk Renia shows works in stone, bronze and some very recent glass sculptures.

-> Mieke Oldenburg (Bronze & Ceramic): Serene and introvert, yet bursting with life
Mieke Oldenburg has evolved into an internationally known sculptor.
Her bronze and ceramic sculptures may have a Classicist appearance, yet filled with intense life, in which the tranquil, serene, and light melancholic are given form. Forms that are sober, but at the same time powerful and poetic.

-> Ross Olson (Stone): Encourage to seek happiness
Ross Olson: “The process of sculpting is for me a sacred ritual; it connects with the wisdom of the stone. The stone, Mother Earth, archetypes, ancestors are all possible sources of inspiration and guidance. The resulting organic forms, natural rhythms and ancestral images show my conviction that everything contains life energy.”
