La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra & Belgian National Orchestra

Reinhold Glière's Third Symphony is rarely played: the enormous number of participants, length and technical difficulty mean that every performance is a real accomplishment. To make this phenomenal composition and monument to Slavic culture heard in Bozar, the Belgian National Orchestra is collaborating with the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alain Altinoglu. It concerns a four-part programmatic work that describes the life of the Russian military hero Ilya Muromets. This adventurous, fairy-tale journey, with a length worthy of Mahlerian and impressionistic tonal designs will touch the hearts of all who hear it!
