Muziekpublique’s World Music & Dance Academy offers more than 50 courses of traditional music and world dances. Besides the oud and the kora you can also learn gipsy guitar, tango violin or Brazilian percussion. All classes are given by professional musicians and dancers in different locations in Brussels. Each teacher practices his or her own pedagogical approach. Music theory is not necessary for a good part of the courses, since learning is often based on oral transmission, as in the case of many world cultures.
The course is not exclusively given in one language. Everyone is welcome in our academy, no matter what language they speak. Teachers and students will make mutual agreements about the language with which they can communicate during the lesson.

Muziekpublique exists to promote and spread world music and traditional dance. The organization is based in the small Molière Theatre, in the arcade at the Porte de Namur. It has become a center of world cultures.
