Regards d'Éthiopie

Mario Di Bari began taking photographs as a teenager in a photo studio in Matera, Italy. Since then, he has developed his style of photography and documented his travels in Europe. In 2003, he was commissioned by the World Food Programme to produce images in rural Ethiopia. In February 2003 he presented the exhibition “The show must go on” at the Italian Cultural Institute and in June 2005, the exhibition “Musique en fête” at the Alliance Ethio-Française during the French Music Day celebrations.
In September 2005, on the occasion of the “Festa dei popoli” dedicated to Africa, he held an exhibition called “Ethiopia” at the Palazzo Granaio in Settimo Milanese, Italy.
In March 2010, pictures of the rural South Ethiopia, were displayed on the occasion of the opening of the Cultural Centre in Konso.
Many of his photos have been used by the local and italian press and in various publications such as the books “Old Tracks in the New Flower” and “ A guide to Lalibela” published by Arada Books and in Aster Aweke and Addis Acoustic Project CD booklets.
His archive includes many photos of Ethiopian and African musicians.
