When we discuss the Middle Ages, it is often to underline our separation from those times. We describe things as “medieval” if they are obsolete or old-fashioned. But what if there were bridges linking our time and this “distant” era? Don’t we live under the same sky as our ancestors? Starting from this premise, the Sollazzo Ensemble presents an audio-visual spectacle that combines medieval iconography with poignant music created over four centuries. The occasion brings together an array of musicians as the ensemble looks at universal human emotions and phenomena such as faith, play, love, ecstasy and fear. When a feeling expressed six centuries ago stirs within us, surely we are touching the core of humanity.
