Take a moment to slow down and reflect with literary readings in the Citizens’ Garden. Immerse yourself in European literature with authors from Belgium, Czechia, France, and Ukraine.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first two weeks of July, discover European literature with summer readings in the Citizens’ Garden. Immerse yourself in thought-provoking stories in a serene green space on your lunchbreak.
During the first week, attend a literary reading with author of the Belgian novel The Melting and discover what happens when music and literature meet during the performance of a dialogue between a novel and a violin.
During week two, immerse yourself in short stories from Ukraine’s leading public intellectual Oksana Zabuzhko and dive into the world of Czech novel The Lake, a dystopian page-turner about the coming of age of a young hero, which won the 2017 EU Prize for Literature.
The literary readings will begin at 12.30 and will last roughly one hour each.
After a short introduction by the moderator, authors will give a 20-30 minute reading from their work. This will be followed by an interactive Q&A session with the moderator, where you can ask questions to the authors about their work.
The events will take place in English, with the exception of the event on Thursday 7 July, which will take place in French.
