Swan Lake @ Cirque Royal
04 Dec 2013 - 07 Dec 2013
It was composed in 1876 by Tchaikovsky, the great Russian composer, and only featured as a premiere in Saint-Petersburg in 1895, with a choreography by Marius Petipa. This native of Marseille, who reigned over the Russian dance scene for fifty years, could not have suspected for a moment that his ballets would be performed throughout the world after his death and that his Swan Lake, never performed outside of Russia in his lifetime, would become the most popular of all romantic ballets.
The plot takes us to an imaginary universe where Prince Siegfried falls in love with a swan, who is in fact a princess fallen under an evil spell. Swan by day and woman by night will be her fate until this spell is broken...
A masterpiece of classical ballet performed by one of the most prestigious traditional companies.
