In her work, Joëlle Dubois examines the impact of social media without expressing explicit criticism. Her interest in new technologies grew when she spent a while in South Korea in the summer of 2014. Inspired due to the constant flow of photos and video clips on the internet, Joëlle confronts the spectator with explicit scenes from private life. In her colorful paintings on wood she plays with improvised compositions to reflect the transient nature of images. She also works with subjects such as gender, sexuality and fetishism.
