Du halo au réseau - Light in the City @ Archives de la Ville de Bruxelles
A reflection on the subject of the light turned out very interesting and is relatively new. While today the artificial lighting is commonplace, it is good to remind itself that, during millenniums, the life remained profoundly rhythmical by day and at night … Only the full moon had the power to push away(to repel) a little abysses.

It is necessary to wait for the arrival of the artificial light to allow a life after day, a continuation of the daily activities. Real revenge on the darkness, this victory is not nevertheless so ancient because it is that the first half of the XIXth century that the artificial light enters, single step, in our life. Provoking a break in the history, it imposes a real phenomenon of acceleration of the society from the XIXth century. After two centuries of more and more intense artificial lighting, new challenges wait for the city-dwellers and for the political decision-makers. It is the relationship of the light and of the energy consumption which it underlies with the saving of our environment. In a global reflection on the global warming, what energies and which types of lamps does it need to privilege to light during night monuments, public highways, the shop windows of store? A major stake and a complex of the present time.
