                    The Sinfonia Varsovia exists since 1972 and was originally known as the Polish Chamber Orchestra, ac-companying the Polish Chamber Opera. In those days, the orchestra's chief conductor was Jerzy Maksy-miuk.
                
                
                    
                    In the 80s, the orchestra started adding instrumental music to its repertoire. When the renowned Ye-hudi Menuhin became the orchestra's first guest conductor for no less than 15 years, it was renamed Sinfonia Varsovia. Anno 2010, artistic director is Krzysztof Penderecki.
