In practical terms, readers leave books they have enjoyed in public places so that other people can appreciate them before also passing them on... There are in fact two interesting variations of this literary practice. The first, called Bookrays and Bookrings enable readers to sign up on a list beforehand so that the book can be passed to each person in the registered group. Often thematic, Bookboxes function in the same way, except that there are several books placed in each box.
