Recipe for mulled wine
After a stroll in the Forêt de Soignes, on the way home from the market, after work on Thursdays… these are all good excuses to enjoy a good mulled wine as soon as the temperature plummets.
Forget just heating up bottles of wine! Homemade mulled wine is as easy as pie to make. You can even transport your delicious creation in a thermos!
-A bottle of red fruity wine (do not use the classified quality wine from your marriage)
-A small glass of Cognac
-7 scant soup spoons of brown sugar
-Spices: 3 whole cloves, 3 sticks of cinnamon (some stores sell ready to use mulled wine spice bags)
-Wash the orange and grate the skin for zest.
-Pour the wine and the cognac into a big pot.
-Heat the mixture without boiling.
-Remove the pot from the heat and flambé the mixture.
-Add the brown sugar, spices and orange zest to the pot.
-Heat the pot on low heat for 15 minutes.
-Enjoy with moderation…
