What to wear this winter
This winter's fashions have finally arrived in the shops. Although inspired by the major fashion designers, they have been adapted to suit everyday life. So that you don't buy everything and irrationally, here are this season's top ten fashion items:

1. Checks are in: typically British tartan is back with a vengeance. Tartan is therefore present on coats, jackets, and classy kilts.

2. Knitwear: what can be better on a freezing day than to snuggle up in a big jumper? This season, they come in a range of neutral colours, with either fine or large stitching. A scoop: knitted dresses are making a comeback. To be worn over a pair of leggings.

3. Leggings: discarded for many years, and mainly a fashion item for punks, leggings are now back on all the catwalks. Wear them under an oversized jumper, and belted at the waist.

4. Capes: oh yes! Comfortable and very feminine, ample or skimpy capes are in, made from wool, tweed or fur. Wrap up with delight!

5. Red: there aren't many bright colours in this winter's fashion. Only bright red will stick out from the crowd. Use it in small doses, or for a total "Little Red Riding Hood" look, whichever you prefer.

6. Boots: although the riding boot shape is still highly fashionable, its shorter counterpart is also back on the scene. With a slim-fit pair of jeans or a short shirt, boots create their own effect.

7. Shorts: as difficult to wear as a pair of bermuda shorts (which are also still "in"), yet equally surprising, shorts are a fashion essential for this winter. In woollen cloth or velvet, shorts will set off all shapely legs.

8. Velvet: quintessential, this is the obvious autumn fabric. Short, fitted mid-season jackets, trousers, skirts, shorts, bags… Velvet is everywhere and it's a good thing, because today's velvet is really comfortable and easy to wear in all circumstances.

9. The Slavic look: a trend initiated last winter, it continues to develop this season with embroidery, velvet and warm, draped fabrics to keep you warm and cosy, but also elegant during the winter months.

10. The riding look: it's a question of attitude, but it's true that this season's shapes are inspired by riding apparel… Boots, jodhpurs, short, jockey-style jackets, are a sure indicator that the lady rider look is in.
