The Royal Museum for Central Africa and the Atomium are teaming up to present Africa. Fast Forward, a temporary exhibition on modernity on the African continent. Offered at the two venues simultaneously, the exhibition reveals a contemporary Africa.
Africa. Fast Forward puts an end to the media’s false images and preconceived notions of a sombre, static Africa, and reveals a contemporary Africa caught up in globalization, a rapidly mutating continent in the process of inventing and evolving. Africa is also the ‘bankable’ continent, both the richest and the poorest. How to explain this improbable paradox? By discovering the hidden face of its immense natural resources and myriad conflicts, and the migrations that result.
The RMCA will emphasize the Africa of cities, an organized chaos of youth, informal economies, and innovative cultural movements, of living and surviving in a great laboratory of modernity.
