1897, the new beer of Union Saint-Gilloise :

If you watched the Jupiler Pro League this weekend, you could have seen the Brussels derby between Union Saint-Gilloise and Sporting Anderlecht. It was a tense match from the start, as Union opened the scoring in the eleventh minute with a shot from Danish international Casper Nielsen. Anderlecht tried to get back into the game, as they had more possession and created more chances than their opponents, but it wasn't enough. Union kept their advantage by relying on their defence. The final score was 1-0 for Union Saint-Gilloise. However, the Saint-Gillois do not want to be satisfied only with the success in the sporting field, proof of this is that they have just released a new beer called "1897". A beer which combines three cereals, namely barley, wheat and oats. All this to give you a slightly sweet taste with a fresh bitterness when you drink it. This drink was developed in partnership with En Stoemeling, a brewery that was born in the Marolles district and is now located near Tour et Taxis. It is 100% Brussels, so it is aimed primarily at supporters of the yellow and blue team, but it can also be tasted by drink specialists or the curious, because it was developed by a real brewery, so the quality is there and is aimed at everyone. You can buy the 1987 Union at the Club House of the team's stadium. For its price, you will have to pay 53,50 euros for a tub against 49 euros for the same tub if you are a subscriber of the team. The 12-bottle pack costs €32 compared to €30 for season ticket holders. Loyal Unionists will pay less, as you can see, because the club wants to reward them for their loyalty. Finally, if you just want to buy a bottle of beer to drink in moderation, you will have to pay the modest sum of 2 € 75. If you are not at the stadium, you can still order the drink on the En Stoemelings website.

So what are you waiting for to get your hands on this winner's beer?

We hope you enjoy it at future Union matches, which you will follow with great enthusiasm to support the club in our beautiful city of Brussels, or during moments of relaxation.
