Clockarium

Le Clockarium is one of the most recent Brussels museums to open! It is a genuine tribute to Art Deco, for the vast majority of clocks on display date back to the twenties and thirties.

Apparently, this period went through a major boom in affordable earthenware clocks, which were used to decorate mantelpieces. There were clocks for all tastes and all purses. They were made in Belgium (particularly in the Borinage region), Northern France and Czechoslovakia. In total more than one thousand pieces are exhibited on three floors - all beautiful and very unusual! - in a building on the prestigious Boulevard Reyers. The building is ideally suited to this task, for it is in the most elegant Brussels Art Deco style and was built in 1935 from designs by the architect Bossuyt.

Practical details

The guided tour lasting around 80 minutes starts every Sunday - except at Easter and Pentecost - at 3.05 pm precisely! Entrée: 6 euros. Entrance costs 6 euros. Le Clockarium can also be hired for private functions.
