Nafissatou Thiam to make a special appearance at the Mémorial Van Damme
The 21-year-old Belgian athlete, a native of the city of Namur, has been one of the stars of these Olympic Games. The Mémorial Van Damme organisers have therefore gone to special efforts to ensure a place for her at the event.
Even if you do not happen to be a fan of sport in general, you cannot fail to have noticed and been impressed by Nafissatou Thiam's exceptional performance in the very difficult discipline of heptathlon.
Nafi will be at the Mémorial Van Damme
If you would like the chance to see a large number of international athletics stars in action, be sure to be at the King Baudouin Stadium (stade Roi Badouin) in Brussels the coming 9 September for a truly celebratory occasion. There are still tickets left, but be quick! It's going to be a very special event. For more information click here. The heptathlon will of course not be included in the programme as it takes two days to complete. But in view of Nafissatou Thiam's extraordinary performance in Rio, it would have been unthinkable not to organise an event for her in front of a Belgian crowd at her home stadium. The organisers have therefore arranged for a high jump competition to be included: the high jump is her favourite discipline. This meeting will provide the perfect occasion to applaud and celebrate Nafi for the magnificent gift she has offered our nation.
