Checked shirts, three-day beards and serious glasses - there are more and more hipsters in Brussels... But where do they go to eat? Here are capital's top five trendy places to eat lunch or supper.

Hipsters are, by definition, anti-conformist...nevertheless they pay a lot of attention to their image and their food. So, the Brussels' restaurants that attract them are guaranteed to have high quality, healthy food, And there is something for everyone, vegetarian, brunch, traditional Brussels food and, of course, gourmet. Here are the top trendy places in the capital.

To have a good lunch or supper in Brussels

Somewhere between street food and health food, at Ami Xavier provides a delicious, healthy, fresh lunch. You can eat melting burgers, tasty sandwiches, original toasted sandwiches, soups, colourful salads and mixed platters. Only yards from Flagey, it's ideal for a sunny lunch.

La Boule d'or à Saint-gilles has lots of different dishes from Brussels and Belgium (Flemish beef stew and Liege meatballs, among others) with, of course, a large choice of cask beers. All served in a great atmosphere.

A comfortable atmosphere, industrial decoration and generous portions - welcome to Skievelat, ideal for supper on a Friday night... Original cuisine allied with affordable prices - we recommend the American style chips and Gueuze meatballs.

For mornings after the night before

Do you have a headache and a dodgy stomach? A classic Sunday morning feeling after a well oiled Saturday night... No worries, head for Yeti in the centre of town.  Definitely the best place for a sweet or savoury brunch based on pancakes, yoghurt, granola and fruit salad. The simple but generous menu will fill you up with energy.

To make the most of the sun

Situated in the centre of Brussels hipsterland, the Bar du Matin has quickly become the cool place to be. Good beer, lots of concerts and DJs - the terrace is a great place to laze when the weather's good.
