Kai Yuan for generous portions of home-style cooking
One thing to be sure of when you visit Kai Yuan; always arrive with an empty stomach! This family-run Chinese restaurant, open since 1986, is characterised by its generosity: firstly in the service, always friendly and with a smile, but also by the portions. Even the hungriest guests won’t be disappointed! Starters, dim sum, roast duck (their specialty), sweet and sour chicken, fried noodles: the staples of traditional Chinese cuisine can all be found on the menu. To accompany your meal, there’s nothing like a Chinese beer, also a tradition: Tsingtao. Located near the many offices in the Louise quarter, Kai Yuan attracts crowds of office workers with its €13.50 lunch menu that includes a starter or soup, main (a choice of one of three dishes), dessert and coffee.
A typical interior and a sunny terrace
Kai Yuan has opted for a decorative style that matches that of its cuisine; a quintessentially traditional Chinese style. Beautiful Chinese paintings adorn the walls of the restaurant, which can accommodate up to fifty guests inside, and half of that out on the terrace. Warmed by the sun in the afternoon, the outdoor tables quickly fill up as the sunny days begin to arrive. Kai Yuan is a great place to visit if you want to eat quality Chinese food for a reasonable price, particularly given the size of the portions! A 10% discount is also available on any take away meals.
